First Aid Courses

In late 2024 and early 2025, we held two fully booked Baby and Child First Aid courses, each welcoming a room full of parents, grandparents, and extended family members. With 29 and 26 attendees respectively, the sessions reflected a strong community desire to learn practical, potentially life-saving skills in a supportive environment.

The courses were delivered by Kat from Safe Sprouts. Kat is a passionate facilitator, paramedic, and mother from Adelaide. Over the course of four hours, she guided participants through a wide range of topics including car and water safety, choking and seizures, DRSABCD and AEDs, fevers and head injuries, allergy and anaphylaxis, and respiratory distress including croup. Kat’s real-world experience and calm, evidence-based approach helped participants feel informed, empowered, and ready to respond if the unexpected were to happen.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants expressing how much more confident they felt after the session. One attendee shared, “The experience Kat has and the evidence she used made me feel very confident in all facets of what she presented.”

Beyond the information shared, the course also created a sense of community. Parents and caregivers sat side by side, learning together, asking questions, and supporting one another. These moments of connection are just as important as the content.
