Mothers Groups
Running weekly across three school terms in 2024, our Mothers Group became a space of connection for local families. Held on Monday mornings at the Berri Community Centre, the group offered a relaxed and welcoming environment where parents could drop in, enjoy a coffee and morning tea, and connect with others while their little ones played nearby.
More than just a playgroup, the Mothers Group was a place where stories were shared, and support was freely given. Each week, we welcomed a mix of familiar and new faces. Some parents were just beginning their journey, while others brought toddlers full of energy and personality. No matter their stage, every mum brought something valuable to the group.
Throughout the year, we invited a range of guest speakers who generously shared their time, knowledge, and care. Felicity Morrell a local dietitian spoke about starting solids and fussy eating, helping to ease the stress that can come with feeding little ones. Suzi Evans delivered her “Workbench for the Mind” workshop, guiding conversations about creating positive change in everyday life. One of the most memorable sessions was a hands-on glass art workshop led by Karl Raams a local art therapist, giving parents a rare chance to slow down and enjoy a creative moment with their children.
At its core, the group was about connection. For many parents, it became something they looked forward to each week, a space to feel seen, heard, and understood. These relationships helped reduce feelings of isolation and created a strong network of peer support. These connections remind us that we’re not alone and that support can often be found in others walking the same path.
